Print Enablement for Virtual Desktops
Virtual Desktop Infrastructure allows organisations of all sizes to improve application and data security, reduce infrastructure costs, enable remote and hybrid workers across the full spectrum of BYO devices and reduce print-related support load.
Print Deploy now brings PaperCut’s full print enablement capability to the world’s most popular VDI platforms:
- Citrix
- VMware Horizon
- Azure Virtual Desktop
- Microsoft Remote Desktop Server (RDS)
Citrix virtual desktops are widely used in the healthcare industry by clinical, diagnostic, and dispensing service providers who rely on printing to initiate patient-critical paper workflows. Similarly, VDI is crucial for large and distributed enterprise organisations, where providing every user with the appropriate printer, in the right place, at the right time, is essential for productivity, regardless of where they need to work.
New Print Deploy options
A new commercial tiering model for Print Deploy zones makes print enablement with PaperCut MF more accessible for smaller customers who only need a handful of zones.

Architecture security improvements
Cybersecurity threats have continued to evolve, and so have PaperCut. PaperCut MF 23.0 brings further improvements from their broad security uplift programme, which involves ongoing internal and external architecture and code reviews, large-scale penetration testing and consultation with cybersecurity specialists.
Whilst most of these improvements are behind the scenes, silently reducing potential attack surfaces and migrating key security configurations from the web interfaces to safer alternatives, updating dependencies and so forth, others you will see.
Administrators must now re-authenticate before changing an administrator’s password or creating new administrator accounts. Any passwords stored in the server.properties file, which an administrator can only access locally, are now automatically hashed.
Enabling authentication best-practice
Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) has become best-practice for line-of-business systems, offering layered protection against unauthorised access.
MFA significantly reduces the risk of breaches by requiring multiple verification methods, even if a password is compromised.
PaperCut MF now supports MFA flows for all admin and user web interfaces when Azure AD is used as the identity provider.
