So what about us?
We are a diverse bunch here at Selectec, but some things are universal. We all share a strong work ethic and enthusiasm for good customer service. We have big ambitions for our company and are committed to working hard for our partners.

Selectec was founded by two friends with different expertise who had an idea or two about changing the world of copying. They were soon up and running out of a garden shed and a third bedroom. Since then, the company has grown significantly. 40 years on and we have outgrown four different offices and the shed is just used to store a lawnmower but we’ve held on to the energy, spirit and our core values: be honest, listen to our resellers and always do the right thing. That’s how we want to be known. To achieve this, we have a team of dedicated sales, support and admin staff promoting innovative software across the globe, backed up by a team of talented developers who can add further value by providing integrations or bespoke solutions to match customers’ requirements, often exceeding their expectations.
So, sit back, relax and allow us to introduce some of the people who make up the rock star team.
- Paul WestonGroup CEO
Paul – Group CEO
For his sins, Paul is the CEO and co-founder of Selectec. He has kept the company going for over 30 years (ignoring comments about more luck than judgement) and is still confident and excited about the future.Paul is the Oracle of Selectec. He brings insight, direction and vision to the company to ensure we stay on message. As the CEO, Paul holistically moulds the business to ensure that both our customer base and employees are satisfied. He initiates, develops and maintains strategic partnerships that allow us to remain both innovative and reactive to market trends. He has been passionate from the start about Selectec (a useful asset for a co-founder!). Having worked in both accounting and sales & marketing in his past, Paul understands how to create good solutions that also work commercially for our channel. As a person who naturally enjoys communicating, Paul can discuss your requirements and offer constructive ideas that will benefit you as a business. When he is not talking about Selectec, he can be heard philosophising about Southampton FC and their eternal quest for silverware #Optimist. Paul is also kind enough to explain Cricket and Tax Codes to the rest of the staff as and when needed. When asked about what he got up to in his spare time he looked surprised and simply replied, “Spare time?”

The title of the job role speaks for itself. Ross runs around putting out fires and exhorting the rest of the team to “move faster”. He is often accused of sticking his nose where it is not wanted…To use a sporting analogy, Ross is an all-rounder (he would probably choose multi-talented) whose role varies widely according to the state of play. Having joined the company 15+ years ago to do the jobs that no-one else really wanted, he has cleverly made himself indispensable. His key roles include running the company’s IT infrastructure and heading up the support to match. He also considers it vital to bombard the CEO with inspirational (he believes) ideas for taking the company forward, often supported by video clips from The West Wing. The day that Ross does not appear on our internal company social media platforms will probably be the day that we hear the hooves of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse!During the very few hours of the day that he does not devote to the company, Ross attempts to parent his 3 ‘tiny humans’ to give his wife some free time to, among other things, bake a high-quality banana cake for the MD. When not thinking about gladiators, Ross likes a good book such as The Name of the Wind, The First Law Trilogy, The Stormlight Archive and the Saga of Pliocene Exile. The standard hiring process for Selectec used to be the Technical Director looking around for whichever of his children was old enough and not looking busy. This happened to Scott in 1989 and resulted in a couple of years spent building book copiers. After that, he decided to see what the rest of the job world looked like.Scott was not too impressed with what he found and when one day the CEO took pity and made him an offer he returned for an “interview” about becoming a service engineer. The CEO notes, “It was an odd interview, he didn’t ask about remuneration or duties, he just said, I’m sure you’ll see me right”.That was the last well-defined role Scott had at Selectec; since then he quietly sits in the background doing the things no one else has the time or inclination to do. These days this largely involves understanding products at a deeper level to find how they can be bent to fit the customer’s requirements. He never set out to be a developer and would not consider himself one, but as with most things in Scott’s life, it needed doing so he just worked it out.Outside of work life, Scott has interests in scepticism and critical thinking (mainly due to liking a good argument), skiing, watching West Wing re-runs and getting into trouble along with his beagle, Darwin.Whilst writing this short biography he discovered Plato had nothing to say on what to do once you have examined your life.

Nick has a strong external hardware background and spent the first eight years of his career connecting all manner of boxes to the back of photocopiers. Nick can turn his hand to any technology and is equally at home rooting his latest Android device or working on a four-node Microsoft cluster. In short, he loves to tinker with technology and while it often breaks he enjoys the challenge of trying to fix it again afterwards. This makes him perfect for pro-services and support. For R&R Nick enjoys motorsport (#GOLEWIS) and spending valuable time with his young family. He also partakes in the regular inter-company battle between our Android and Apple fans. Andy is not afraid to get his hands dirty and has a great “can-do” attitude to – installs, Pre-sales presentations, tender assistance, specification help we and our partners know we can throw anything at Andy and he will make it so. With over 15 years in the print and copy industry, Andy has done it all and that perspective from the other side of the reseller fence is vital to us. Andy can sell, install, support and promote products and we love his enthusiasm, keep going, buddy! Try not to hold it against him but he supports Oldham Athletic A.F.C, we don’t know why – we never asked. We just assume they were good when he was growing up as that is how you pick a football team, right?
