PaperCut MF Version 18.1
Sometimes (just sometimes, we do not want to get spoilt) the development God’s smile down on us mortals and deliver (normally via Amazon’s CDN) a software update that changes the game. 18.1 is a release anyone, and everyone should be proud of, and we hope the talented @PaperCutDev team is pleased, any other software house would have slapped a major version number on it, but for PaperCut this is a minor point release. So, what is all the fuss about?
Scan to the Cloud
You asked for it, and you got it. Integrated Scanning now scans to cloud storage locations such as Google Drive, Dropbox and OneDrive personal (with more coming soon, including OneDrive Business via future updates). Cloud scanning is ideal for customers who want a total print management & image capture solution.
Any device that your customers have that supports Integrated Scanning, will scan to the cloud. To get up and running you will need 18.1 (get updating) and active Premium Upgrade Assurance (PUA).
Azure AD user sync
Our talented PS team have been installing PaperCut and syncing with Azure AD for a long time now. To encourage more people to use this option (and who does not have something in the "cloud"?) PaperCut have moved the option to sync with Azure AD into the Admin UI.
This is just the start of PaperCut's cloud identity program, bringing vendor neutrality and customer choice to how organisations want to manage their users.
Supporting end-to-end encryption on the network
Good news everyone, winning those tenders just became a little easier. Every week a horde of print tenders cross our talented Pre-Sales team's desks, and it is great to see organisations thinking about security from the onset in their requirements.
PaperCut has always been transparent and security focused and is constantly testing and re-evaluating their platform. PaperCut MF provides a great number of security enhancements in 18.1 but the cream of the crop is end-to-end encryption over the network.

Support For HP Pro Devices
Yep, you read that correctly! PaperCut has worked closely with the team from HP to develop a Fast Release option for HP Pro devices. The solution offers print release via a card. There’s no user interface, just tap the card to the USB reader and it will release any jobs waiting.
The HP Pro Fast Release device license is low cost and can be easily implemented into a print tracking environment running PaperCut MF.
Remember, an easy way to remember HP compatibility is to look for the letter in front of the numbers. The “E” stands for Enterprise and PaperCut supports all Enterprise devices. The “P” is Professional and as of 18.1 PaperCut supports all LaserJet Pro, PageWide Pro and PageWide Managed Pro devices.
GDPR is an opportunity, not a threat
Time is counting down until GDPR regulations take effect. In previous releases, PaperCut has made improvements to PaperCut MF to help organisations with GDPR compliance. In 18.1, they are further redacting job log details (if needed)
Don't forget, there’s now an option to automatically remove document names and archives from job logs after any amount of time. This allows an organisation to keep traceability and accountability of printed documents through features like Print Archiving and Digital Signatures, and still easily comply with “Right to be Forgotten” privacy regulations.
Production Printing, 3D Printing, Laser Cutting – track them all
And let's not forget about Job Ticketing, Job Ticketing is a fantastic new feature released in 18.0. Job Ticketing allows you to track and control production printing, 3D printing, laser cutting, or any other service offered through these facilities. It doesn’t matter what type of device it is, they can all be managed.
18.1 brings further enhancements and tweaks to the UI and to the feature set. Want to learn more? Ask for a demo from our PS Team, they can get you set up in no time. PaperCut also created this handy video to step through how Job Ticketing connects to PaperCut MF.
